Moderation
From PlastiverseWikiBase
The old way:
Moderation was accomplished by giving moderation points to random members with sufficient karma through a lottery. Moderators were allowed to moderate comments on discussions where they had not participated, with upmods costing one point, and downmods costing two points. Each mod was worth 1/2 point on the comment's score.
Theoretically, this would give comments with greater reader interest higher scores, while offensive comments would have lower scores. Readers could set their filters to show comments of different scores in order to filter out the less consequential comments.
Each moderation of a comment would affect the writer's karma score by 1/2 point, either up or down, thus those members whose comments were deemed more valuable would have higher karma than those who were more offensive.
The new way
Scoop moderation allows for a user to rate a comment from 1 (low) to 5 (high). Tagging a mod is optional. There is no limit on the number of mods a user may make within a story or on the site as a whole.
